If you’re looking to get in shape for summer, then now is the time you need to start taking action as whilst there are plenty of quick fixes to losing a few pounds in a matter of weeks if not days, for sustainable and noticeable changes to take place, you need to be working out for a few weeks to see the effects.

Now, it’s true that the way we dress can have a huge impact on how we are perceived and how we feel about ourselves, yet our physique is probably the most critical aspect of how we look on the outside and feel on the inside.

If you want to feel better about your body, the best way is to exercise and get in shape as this will have a huge impact on your confidence and level of happiness in addition to your physical health.

That said, it can feel like a daunting task to haul ourselves to the gym or swimming pool to the point we keep putting it off and never quite get around to going.  If you’re lucky enough to have your own swimming pool or gym then the following suggestions aren’t going to be as relevant to you, but on the note of pools, at this time of year you’ll want to give your pool a full service prior with a professional company such as in order to ensure it is ready for the summer months that will shortly be upon us.

Now, for the majority of people that don’t have the luxury of their own pool or gym, this article suggestions three options for working out at home that will make you break out in a sweat but won’t break the bank.

1. On Demand Fitness Classes

Les Mills (  the world’s leading provider of licensed fitness classes such as Body Attack, Body Pump and Body Combat are now offering on-demand fitness classes using a similar model to Netflix; the great thing with these classes is they fit around your schedule, unlike a gym where you have to fit around its timetable, and you don’t have to feel so embarrassed about being the person at the back not really knowing the moves.  It’s a great way to build up your fitness and competency before braving a real life exercise class.

2. Get on Your Bike

You may prefer to go exploring in the great outdoors, but many people like the idea of cycling in front of the TV in the comfort, convenience and privacy of their own home.  The main benefit of exercising in this way is that it will work the majority of major muscle groups and is relatively low-impact, meaning it won’t negatively affect your joints as much as high impact sports like running and aerobics.

3. Boxing Pad Work

For something a little more interactive, this is a fantastic way to keep fit with a partner, or on your own if you replace boxing pads for a punching bag.  Not only is it a great way to boost your cardiovascular fitness, it’s also an incredibly effective way to de-stress and blow off steam.

In summary, if you want to look good this summer it’s going to require a two-pronged attack; your wardrobe is important but something more fundamental is what’s underneath your clothes.  Now is a great time to get in shape for summer, and with these tips, you don’t even need to leave the house if you don’t want to.
