Actors and actresses at the 75th Annual Golden Globes on Sunday wore all-black in support of the #TimesUp movement against sexual harassment and the abuse of power in Hollywood. Actresses did communicate the idea that fashion can make a difference in telling a story, following more than a year of protests on the fashion runways and in the streets beginning with 2017’s monumental Women’s March.
The lack of bold color, celebrities stood out by choosing unusual silhouettes, statement jewelry, or unique textiles.
Here are my Top 10 looks
Diane Kruger & Kate Hudson
Diane Kruger opted for this detailed gown which was covered in silver trinkets
The actress wore a Prada dress, with Fred Leighton jewellery and a Judith Leiber clutch. The effect is stunning.
If anyone can pull off a plunging sheer Valentino gown, it's Kate Hudson. The actress completed her look with a dramatic pendant necklace while keeping her hair and makeup fairly simple, allowing the dress to take centre stage..
Saorise Ronan, Dakota Johnson & Zoë Kravitz
Lady Bird's Saorise Ronan rocked a futuristic single-sleeve Versace look with crystal studded padded shoulders and flashes of silver.
Dakota Johnson wore Gucci (she’s the face of the brand’s perfume Bloom), and designer Alessandro Michele didn’t skimp on the details, tying her up in a giant crystal bow on the train in back.
Zoë Kravitz stunned on the Golden Globes red carpet. She wore a simplistic, black velvet column dress from Saint Laurent and show-stopping emerald green earrings by Lorraine Schwartz.
Claire Foy & Gal Gadot
Several leading ladies opted for menswear with a feminine twist, among them Claire Foy in a no-nonsense black suit from Stella McCartney and slicked-back hair.
Gal Gadot rocked the red carpet with her no frills approach to glamour wearing a fitted strapless Tom Ford dress, adding a touch of androgyny thanks to a cropped tailored blazer.
Millie Bobby Brown, Alicia Vikander & Nicole Kidman
Millie Bobby Brown may only be 13 years old, but the Stranger Things actress has already firmly established herself as a red carpet pro and this custom Calvin Klein mini is no exception.
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton and Bulgari jewelry, was buttoned-up Victoriana in front, bare-shouldered vixen in back. The best of everything.
Nicole Kidman always brings her style A-game, and this year's Golden Globes ceremony was no exception. The Big Little Lies actress, looked absolutely stunning in a jaw-dropping black dress by Givenchy that's equal parts sexy and classy.
